This is how you become a professional banksman.

VTC, specialised in training operators for vertical transport, trains banksmen for various platforms, such as offshore platforms.
You learn how to work together with the crane operator to hook on loads and to move them. Safety and careful working are priorities.
The training course has been developed in accordance with the NOGEPA guidelines 1.9.

Subjects included in the training course
During the training you will learn all about the theory and practical application of:
- Lifting tools, such as chains, slings, steel cables, etc.
- Hooking on loads
- Use of the two-way radio to contact the crane operator
We use a crane for the practical parts of the course. You will gain your first experience as banksman in the VTC training centre!
Step 1 Three-day training course
The banksman training course is three days with alternating theory and practical work.
Step 2 Examination
You will take the examination on the last of the training days. If you pass this you will be awarded the Certificate of Expertise - Banksman Offshore Installations.
You can also be examined in accordance with the TCVT standards for a small additional fee.
You will receive a certificate that is valid for hooking on loads for vertical transport on land.
Step 3 The compulsory refresher training
Your certificate remains valid for four years. After that you can follow the required refresher training course with us. This is a one-day training course in which all important aspects are covered both in theory and practice. The training is completed with a test.
